Blizzard made two changes that heavily impact how Elemental handles movement all the way back at the beginning of BFA. When following those caster ABCs, there's one thing that always comes up in conversation and that's movement. If you experience that after changing this setting, then set it higher or simply back to the blizzard default of 400. This can be lowered to be closer to your average ping by typing the following into chat and replacing "latency" with your desired lag tolerance:įor example, I have mine set to 200! One thing to keep in mind on this setting though, is that if it's set too low it can cause commands to be missed by the server and will feel like input lag. To see where your custom lag tolerance is set, type the following in chat:īy default this is set to 400. With latency you'll generally have small periods of time between casts depending on your ping and custom lag tolerance setting. Not following the casters ABCs - Always Be Casting.Latency, which can be almost entirely mitigated via the custom lag tolerance setting. There are two major categories that cause downtime where you aren't casting anything: Occasionally you'll want to line these up with periods of major AoE (say in Mythic dungeons or M+,) but in a single-target scenario using these on cooldown is best practice. Alternatively, if you're at 95 Maelstrom in that scenario you should cast Earth Shock first because you lose more from overcapping on Maelstrom than from the potential Lava Surge proc.įor longer cooldowns such as Fire Elemental, Storm Elemental, Stormkeeper, or Liquid Magma Totem you want to cast them as soon as they are up in almost all scenarios. If you cast the Earth Shock first you could lose a full Lava Burst if you get a Lava Surge proc. In this case you go to 70 Maelstrom which loses you nothing and you can then proceed to cast that Earth Shock. As an example, if you're at 60 Maelstrom and have a charge of Lava Burst then you should cast the Lava Burst first even though you can cast Earth Shock. If the answer is no, then you're safe to proceed. "Could I lose any proc or damage if I cast this before something else?" If the answer is yes, there's probably a better choice you could make. Yes, even you!įor small rotational cooldowns, there's one question that should be at the forefront of your mind whenever you're choosing the next spell you cast.
